I was in prison and you visited me. Matthew 25:36

Welcome to Kairos LCIW!

We're a community of volunteers from all over Louisiana that share a mission to show Christ's love and forgiveness to the women at the Louisiana Correctional Institute for Women (LCIW).  How do we do this?  Through God's gifts of vulnerability, servanthood, gratitude, compassion, and humility.  Check out our pictures and videos.

What is Kairos?

Kairos is a Christian, volunteer, lay-led, ecumenical, international prison ministry in 31 states and in 8 other countries.  Kairos is a Greek word that means "God's Special Time".

Kairos volunteers hold 4 day retreats twice a year at the Louisiana Correctional Institute for Women (LCIW) in St. Gabriel, La.

Why Kairos?

We are called by God to visit the prisons and share the love of Christ with those impacted by incarceration. Kairos offers inmates the opportunity to receive God’s forgiveness through faith in Jesus Christ, and to grow in their faith and servanthood in a Christian community on the prison compound.

 What is LCIW?

LCIW is the only women's correctional facility in La. It's in St. Gabriel, about 30 minutes south of Baton Rouge. Click here for more information on LCIW from the Louisiana Department of Corrections.
